Important Instructuions for the Applicant

Admission to Regular/Sponsored/Part-Time M.Tech/MSc programme 2024-25 without scholarship

  • Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Regular, Sponsored (Full-Time) and Part-Time seats in MTech (Non-GATE)/MSc (Non-JAM) (without scholarship) (2024-25).
  • NOTE : The number of vacant seats for all the discipline will be announced after the Admission through central counselling for MTech(CCMT-2024) and MSc(CCMN-2024) are over (tentatively by 10 July 2024).
  • 1. INSTRUCTION :
  • Candidates are advised to fill the application form on institute portal and upload the following documents with application on portal.
  • Relevant Documents
  • 1. Latest colour passport photograph.
  • 2. Photo ID proof as per Govt. of India norms.
  • 3. Certificate of Date of Birth issued by competent authority or Class X (High school Board) Certificate as proof of date of birth.
  • 4. Mark Sheet of Class XII.
  • 5. Grade/Mark Sheets of qualifying degree examination for all semesters. If result is awaited then candidates applying for M Sc will upload marksheet upto 5th sem and course completion certificate (as per format of CCMN-24) and candidates applying for M Tech will upload marksheet upto 7th sem and course completion certificate (as per format of CCMT-24).
  • 6. Degree/Provisional certificate of qualifying degree.
  • 7. Certificate of Social Category (OBC/SC/ST), EWS, PwD if applicable, as per Government of India, issued by the competent authority. In case of OBC(NCL) and EWS category, the OBC-NCL, EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2024. PwD certificate shall be latest as per CCMT-24 format.
  • 8. Application fee receipt.
  • 9. NOC (for Part Time candidates) & Migration Certificate.
  • 10. Experience Certificate (if any).
  • 11. Family annual income certificate issued on or after 01 Apr 2024.
  • #Last Semester Marksheet and Migration Certificate are to be submitted before 30th September 2024.

  • 3. IMPORTANT DATES
  • (a) Uploading of advertisement on Institute website : 14 June, 2024
  • (b) Start of application on web portal of Institute : 14 June, 2024
  • (c) Last date of submission of application on webportal of Institute : 10 July, 2024
  • (d) Uploading list of short listed candidates : on or before 11 July, 2024
  • Dates for written test/interview will be intimated when institute will receive details about vacant seats after CCMT-24/CCMN-24. Candidates are informed to check the website daily. Written test/interview will be conducted in physical mode at NIT Manipur, Imphal.
  • Application fee (Rs. 500 for Gen/OBC OBC(NCL) and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/EWS/PwD) for the MTech/MSc admission will be accepted through digital/online mode only, in the following bank account.

  • 4. ELIGIBILITY
  • M.TECH/MSC PROGRAMMES : In qualifying degree, the candidates should have passed and secured at least 6.5 CGPA/CPI (on a 10-point scale) or 60% for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC, whereas 6.0 CGPA/CPI (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates. The above-mentioned CGPA/CPI/Percentage should be awarded by a recognized University/Institute.
    If the results of the last qualifying examination are not published yet, the qualifying marks are applicable until the last semester. However such candidates have to submit their final semester results before admission, else their selection if any will be cancelled.
    Category wise Vacant Seats after CCMT-2024 and CCMN-2024 will be filled at Institute level.

  • 5. CATEGORY :
  • The Institute admits M.Tech/MSc students under the following categories:
  • (i) REGULAR (FULL-TIME)
    These are students who work full-time for their M.Tech/MSc. degrees and self-sponsored.
  • (ii) SPONSORED (FULL-TIME)
    A candidate in this category is sponsored by a recognised R&D organisation, academic institution, governmental organisation or industry for doing M.Tech/M.Sc in the Institute on a full-time basis. The applicant must be a regular employee of his/her organisation with at least two years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. Sponsorship/NOC (FORM I) letter must be attached with the application.
  • (iii) PART-TIME
    This category refers to candidates who are professionally employed personnel (including the staff of NIT Manipur), who can attend classes at the Institute while employed. These candidates should be able to attend regular classes as per the schedule of the Institute. The applicant must be a regular employee of a recognized organisation with at least two years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. For NIT Manipur staff these rules are exempted but to be admitted as part-time candidate. A No Objection Certificate from the Head of the Institution/Organisation in which he/she is employed (Form II) must be enclosed at the time of application. Please note that, if called for Written Test/Interview, the candidate will have to produce the Originals as well as attested copies of all the documents relating to educational qualifications (from Class X onwards). This is also applicable for the result awaited candidates, except that along with other required documents they will produce Original as well as attested copies of all Mark Sheets up to the previous semester/year of the Qualifying Degree.
  • 6. ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR M.TECH/MSC PROGRAMMES (WITHOUT SCHOLARSHIP)
  • Mere eligibility will not ensure a call for admission test and/or viva voce. Depending on the number of applications received and the eligibility, a shortlist shall be prepared for a call for admission test.
    (i) The weightage will be totally based on Academic Assessment,Written Test Examination and Interview(Viva Voce). In case of candidates scoring same marks, the Percentage of Marks/CGPA/CPI obtained in the last qualifying examination will be considered.
  • 7. HOSTEL
  • Hostel accommodation may be allotted for the full-time students subject to availability.
    Candidates will be required to pay hostel fee extra.
  • 8. CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION
  • Refund of fee due to the cancellation of admission will be made as per the rules of the Institute subject to submission of application with all relevant documents.
